  The Program

Thank you for your interest in the University of Montana tDPT programs. The 20 credit Masters to tDPT and the 30 credit Bachelor to tDPT programs are designed to allow PTs to transition to the DPT in a primarily self-paced, distance education format.

A National Taskforce of the APTA has made well-grounded recommendations about curriculum content to meet expectations of the DPT. These content areas include medical screening, medical imaging, pharmacology, ethical and legal issues in practice, clinical decision-making using the patient client management model, business and marketing, professionalism in an autonomous profession, evidence-based practice, and research/professional scholarship. These constructs serve as core content within our tDPT curriculum.

We have gathered nationally-recognized faculty, many of whom literally wrote the book on these content areas or were associated with the development of the information included these courses. All courses (except one) are delivered to you on a CD and include:

  • slides
  • voice-over
  • handouts
  • web-links to additional resources (abstracts/articles, clinical guidelines, etc)
  • video demonstrations (as required)
You take the lectures at your own pace and wherever you have a computer. In addition, the program website features a discussion board, allowing for threaded communication between classmates.

Our tDPT program is fully accredited by the Northwest Commission, the accrediting body of the University Montana.
