Jonathan Cooperman is currently assigned to International Operations of the Cleveland Clinic and stationed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to his current posting, he served as Clinical Rehab Manager, Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy, Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health & Wellness in Stow Ohio. He has been a practicing physical therapist for more than 40 years. Dr. Cooperman received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science Degree in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Northern Arizona University. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Akron, School of Law and he is admitted to the Bar in Ohio. Dr. Cooperman has faculty appointments at several universities where he teaches courses on Legal and Ethical Issues in Health Care, Communication and Professionalism. He served as President of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association from 2002-2007. He is a past Chair, Ethics and Judicial Committee of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He is a former (2003-2008) advisor to the American Medical Association’s coding process (RUC/HCPAC Committee). Dr. Cooperman is a past member of the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers License Board, and is a former Editor (1992-1998) of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice. In 2005, he was named the recipient of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Lucy Blair Service Award. In 2010 he was named Alumnus of the Year by the University of Maryland Physical Therapy Program. In 2015 he became a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice.
