Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy

Rehab Essentials has partnered with the University of Montana (UM) to offer a cost-effective transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT) degree program that allows internationally licensed working professionals to complete the degree on their terms, online and on their time. Each course within the curriculum is designed to advance critical thinking to the doctorate level while building on clinical skills.  Plus, the University of Montana is institutionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

The University of Montana tDPT program provides a critical career advancement pathway for therapists trained at CAPTE accredited schools as well as foreign Universities.  This track is for foreign trained therapist looking to attain a DPT and to either meet license requirements or continue to practice in their native country.  All courses taken through this program are graduate level courses.   Throughout this post-professional program you will gain advanced critical thinking and professional knowledge, to apply of the science and art of physical therapy.  You will be empowered to move your career forward and be better prepared to become a leader in physical therapy.

 

All courses taken through this program are graduate level courses. While the tDPT coursework will assist toward the fulfillment of the educational requirements toward US licensure, it does not guarantee a US license. All PT’s seeking US PT licensure should follow all steps outlined by the FSBPT.

Requirements

 

  • Masters in Physical Therapy Degree or Masters of Science in Physical Therapy Degree
  • Official transcript(s) directly from the university, college, or recognized credentialing body
  • Copy of Physical Therapy license or proof of practice in your country of residence/practice
  • Academic equivalency documentation demonstrating US Masters in PT equivalency from:
  • English proficiency results:
    • Taken in the last 2 years
    • Qualifying scores:
      • Duolingo English Test: 120 or better
      • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 92 or better (internet-based test), 237 or better (computer-based test), pr 580 or better (paper-based test), or 92 or better (internet-based test)
      • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5 or better
      • MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery: 82 or better
      • iTEP: 4.2 or better
    • If your scores do not meet the requirements above, applicants are encouraged to complete English as a Second Language course(s) and retake an English proficiency test before applying to the program.
For all applicants seeking a US PT license:
We recommend using a foreign/international credentialing agency that accepts electronic documentation transfer (email, upload, etc). This will significantly reduce the time to have your documents evaluated and thus, get you to your goals sooner! All courses taken through this program are graduate level courses. While the tDPT coursework will assist toward the fulfillment of the educational requirements toward US licensure, it does not guarantee a US license. All PT’s seeking US PT licensure should follow all steps outlined by the FSBPT.
