The University of Montana, partnering with Rehab Essentials, provides the education you desire that delivers the knowledge you need presented by the content-experts in their field. Each program has been carefully designed to provide the working professional the valuable knowledge that will improve their ability to provide quality healthcare to their patients and community.

There are many barriers that are difficult to overcome when considering returning to education. Each program is set up to allow a life balance between work, family, and school. Each program is offered online, allowing students to complete course material on their time during the semester.


Applications are being accepted for the Spring 2020 Cohort

All completed applications must be postmarked by December 15, 2019

Spring 2020 semester begins January 6, 2020

Summer 2020 semester begins May 4, 2020

Fall 2020 semester begins August 31, 2020

Applications are reviewed and acted upon following the receipt of all documents. Space is limited in each program and there typically is a waitlist. Any applications received after the postmark date will be considered for the following cohort.

Accelerated tDPT Curriculum

Accelerated BS to DPT = 30 credits, 5 semesters

An accelerated track for BS-tDPT students to complete their Doctorate faster. Based on recommendations from the APTA on transitional degree curricular design and accredited by the Northwest Commission. All courses are available to foreign-trained therapists seeking to fulfill credentialing deficiencies.

Transitional DPT Degree

2 curricular pathways. 1 tDPT degree

For: Actively practicing physical therapists, faculty or administrators holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in PT, that wish to advance to the doctorate degree

Accelerated Philippines tDPT

Accelerated BS to DPT = 30 credits, 5 semesters

An accelerated track for BS-tDPT students to complete their Doctorate faster. This curriculum pathway will allow any Philippines based BS-tDPT student to complete their transition to a DPT in five semesters versus the current seven semester track.

Philippines-Based tDPT

30 credits, 7 semesters

Filipino physical therapists residing in the Philippines, faculty, or administrators holding a bachelor's degree from a Filipino PT school. Proof of residency in the Philippines is required

Health Sciences Education Leadership Certificate

12 credits, 3 semesters

Addresses the key foundational requirements of education theory and methods, instructional design, student, faculty and program assessment, and concepts in education leadership. This Certificate has been developed by experts in physical therapy education leadership for leaders in physical therapy education.

Rehabilitation Administration Certificate

7 courses. 13 credits. 1 year.

For: Health professionals looking to advance to an administrative position. Can be taken in conjunction with the tDPT program. Bachelor’s degree required.
