Dr. McCulloch received his physical therapy education at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, his Master of Arts degree from New York University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of New Orleans. He was at Louisiana State University for 38 years of active service, 14 years of which were as the inaugural Dean of the School of Allied Health Professions.
Prior to joining LSU as a faculty member in physical therapy on the New Orleans campus, Dr. McCulloch served for eight years as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service in New York City and New Orleans. Upon joining the faculty, he was transferred to Shreveport to initiate the Program in Physical Therapy. During his time with the university, he has served as Director of Rehabilitation Services at University Hospital, Department Head of Physical Therapy, Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs and Executive Associate Dean of Allied Health prior to assuming the deanship in 2004.
Dr. McCulloch received certification in wound management by the American Board of Wound Management and further served that organization over 20 years as chair of the Examination Committee. He presently is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Wound Management Foundation. He is also a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Since retirement, Dr. McCulloch operates a private consulting practice in wound management education and serves as a gratis faculty member in the physical therapy program providing lectures in wound management and professional presentation skills.
